TGM continues to invest in outstanding academic achievement in tertiary education and support the next generation of talent TGM UQ Economics Honours Prize Winner 2022by providing an annual prize to the top performing macroeconomics student within the University of Queensland’s (UQ) Economics Honours program.

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the TGM 2022 UQ Economics Honours Prize, awarded at the UQ Honours Celebration Event on Monday 5th December 2022 is Patrick Elkington. Patrick’s Honours thesis, ‘Markups and Misallocation: Firm-Level Evidence from Australia,’ examines the impact of market power on aggregate productivity in Australia using microdata provided by the ABS and presents a novel transformation to estimate markups for small and medium-sized firms.

Patrick has accepted a Graduate position at the Reserve Bank of Australia to commence in February 2023. He is looking forward to moving to Sydney, gaining valuable professional experience, and actively contributing to the achievement of the Reserve Bank’s goals.

Patrick also hopes to complete a PhD in the future and continue to develop his research skills. Congratulations to Patrick (pictured at his University of Queensland graduation ceremony) for being the worthy recipient of the 2022 TGM UQ Economics Honours Prize.
